About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Visa expired

Hi, i had double entry type (90 days stay for each) started on the Sep 2015 and ends by March 2016, i came to Guangzhou in Oct 2015, but somehow i didnot notice that i have to leave after 90 days, 2 weeks ago i wanted to go back to my country, but at the airport they didnot allow me to leave China and said i stayed 22 days overstay and i should check the immigration department in Guangzhou, when i checked them they transfered me to a police station, whom asked me to pay 1,000 RMB as fine cause i overstayed, i tried to explain for them that i didnot notice and i already holding double-entry type and i thought it expires by March 2016, but they said i have to pay,

* They asked me to come back on the 18th to the police station as they were about to be off work for the holiday and am gonna meet them back in 4 days.

What should i do as i already lost my ticket and have to buy new one, i mean why it's too much money?? Why they can't help out easily?

Much Thanks in advance,,

Ahmed, I understand your feeling. The "allowed stay duration" and validity of the entry permit is really confusing and I know some people in the same case as you. If you only overstay for a few days, you may not even need to pay the fine and the police will allow you to go home without leaving a bad record. However, you have already overstayed for more than 20 days, so I think you had better pay the fine first and leave. According to what I know, the police can impose you a fine of CNY 500 per day! So CNY 1,000 is not a very large number.
