how far ahead can i renew my hong kong sar passport?

My Hong Kong SAR Passport expires on Nov. 10/2017,  can I renew my Hong Kong SAR Passport on Sep. 25/2016 when I will be in Hong Kong?

Yes, it's possible to apply for it at that time, but I don't think it's necessary because you can apply for it later at the PRC embassy. In this way, you can make the best use of the current passport.
