Which visa should I apply for an internship in the arts in Beijing

Hello, I am a student from the Netherlands and have been invited by an artist to do an internship with her. This is an unpaid internship and I will be staying for 5 /6 months. Also I will be leaving the country in month 2 to travel to Malaysia and back.

Jojo, does the artist has her own workshop or company? If yes, you can apply for the M type. If no, I'm afraid you can only apply for the tourist L type entry permit and enter as a tourist. By the way, as you mentioned, you will go to Malaysia and back to China, I think you should apply for double entries.
