About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I have a two-way ticket from Boston, US to Beijing.

I also have a two-way ticket from Beijjing to HK. My plan is to stay in Beijing for less than 72 hours and then go on to HK for a few weeks and then fly back to Beijing and US (will not stay). Will this work with the free transit visa? Thank you!
