HK Resident, HK Born can I apply for Home Return?

Hi,

Some of my friends who are born in Hong Kong and have obtained an HKID card without HKSAR passport managed to successfully apply for a home-return permit by showing both the HKID card and the original birth cert. However, another friend of mine was denied this.

I was wondering that since I am born in Hong Kong and have lived here ever since, I have a HK Birth cert and HKID Card, but I cannot obtain an HKSAR passport as my current nationality does not allow dual-citizenship. (The China Travel Service does not understand my question... and extremely unhelpful) So am i eligible for the home-return permit?

Dear, as far as I know, the home return permit is only issued to PRC citizens who are residents of HK. But according to what you said, you don’t have Chinese nationality. Thus, I’m afraid you cannot apply for it.

What is your "other" nationality?
