What documents are needed for visa application?

Hi.
I am Afghan working in Japan and want to travel to China for sightseeing. What are the necessary documents for the application and can I apply personally at the embassy or apply through a travel agency?

Dear Sina, in regard of Afghan passport holders, only tour group can apply for the tourist L type. Thus, you should book a tour and then ask the travel agency to apply for it for you.
