Dates for Chinese New Year Celebrations

Do people celebrate and follow specific customs for Spring Festival starting on February 7, 2016? Or are there special things to do before that date; if so, what date in 2016 would it start? And does the celebration end by February 22, 2016 or later? Thanks.

Usually, the celebration starts from the first day of the first lunar month; namely, Feb. 8, 2016. On Feb. 7, many people are still on the way home and on the eve it is time for family reunion which usually celebrated by all family memebers having a grand dinner together.

Generally speaking, all celebrations won't end until Feb. 22, on which day there are lanterns displays in many places.
