How to get visa to visit friends and for sightseeing in China?

Dear, you should apply for a tourist L type which allows you to visit your friends and go for sightseeing. You can ask your friend issue an invitation letter to you. The required documents contain: the application form and 3 recently-taken bareheaded color photos, your passport and its photocopy, your travel itinerary in PRC, the invitation letter from your friend and his/her Chinese ID card (if she/he is a PRC citizen) or passport and residence permit copies (if she/he is a foreigner), as well as round trip air tickets and hotel reservation. Besides, the embassy may also require you to provide the travel insurance, bank savings account or income certificate to prove your financial support.
