changing from x2 to z visa

Question

I recently got an offer to work in Shanghai, currently living in Beijing. My X2 type will expire next month. Is it possible to change to the Z type in HK or is it better to return to my home country? Thanks!

Alberto, you can try to change your X2 type to work Z type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB first. But if it doesn’t work, you can go to HK and have a try to apply for work Z type. Otherwise, you need to go back to your home country to apply for it.
