Hi,

I am travelling soon to China, I want to buy this vintage replica phonograph as a birthday gift for my friend, do I have to declare and pay tax on it when I exit CN and pay tax here when I enter Australia?

Thanks

Susan, you can take it for sure. And there is no need to pay tax when you leave. However, I don't know if your customs will impose tax on it. You'd better contact your customs to confirm this.
