Hi Susanna, if you fly from Dubai to Shanghai and then go back to Dubai directly after three days, your route is not eligible for the 72h free transit policy. I advise you to take a flight from Dubai to HK and then to Shanghai, then you can take a direct flight from Shanghai to Dubai. In this way, you can enjoy the free transit policy.

So then from Hong kong I don't need an entry permit to enter Shanghai? It's written that are two different states but in this case Shanghai will be my final destination...So I enter Hong kong and then i need to pass trough the customs for the Visa? Would you please give me more details since I'm afraid that they will send me back:(

You don't need to worry about it. Hong kong is regarded as a seperate region from mainland when talking about the immigration affairs, so you only transit in one mainland PRC city, namely, Shanghai. Your route goes like this: Dubai - HK - Shanghai - Dubai. It's eligible for the 72h free transit.

Last more question when and how I have to declare that my final destination would be Shangai? Or Dubai?
What do u advice me to do? make one ticket Dubai-Hong Kong- Shanghai and another one Shangai Dubai?
And also when I land to Hong Kong I have to go through the customs? and get the Visa for Shangai? or I'll get upon arrival when I get to Shanghai since i'm coming from Hong Kong?
Tnx a lot for ur time!!:)

Your final destination should be Dubai.
You should inform the attendant that you will use the 72 hour free transit before the flight arrives in Shanghai. When you get off, you will pass through the special lane for 72 hour free transit to apply for the 72-hour permit.
In HK, you need to go through the customs, but don’t worry, you can enjoy free entry to HK.
