Chia, your passport validity is still long. I personally don't think you need to renew it. However, if you plan to extend your stay, then you'd better do the renewal as early as you can. The reason is that at least six months validity is required when you do the extension. If you plan to extend your X type, then perhaps atl east one year validity is required. In this case, you can do the renewal right now.
