timing for yuanyuang visit

is early april a good time to visit? i plan to visit yuanyuang and the redfields. which is the best way to organise it? do a day trip from kunming for yuanyang and redfields. what about transport - public transport or have to use private car. pls recommend

Yes, the best time for a visit is from November to April when the fields are full of water and great for photography. Well, the distance between the two places is 310 miles (500km), so I am afraid that it is not very feasible to do a day trip. From KM to Yuanyang: take a coach to Yuanyang Xinjie from South Bus Station for CNY 140. The coaches depart at 10:20, 12:30, and 18:30, and the duration is about 6 hours.
From KM to Dongchuan Red Land: take a coach to Dongchuan from North Bus Station. Upon arrival, take a bus to Xintian Town (Red Land).
