work visa, work permit, residence permit

Hi, I was working in china till last month 24th Dec. Then my previous employer cancelled my work permit and Z type and I got a stay permit on humanitarian grounds for 15 days.

1- Now my previous employer have refused to give me the work permit cancellation receipt. How do I proceed for new work permit with new employer. (I already have new job in hand now).

2- I need to leave PRC by 10 Jan. What's the process I need to follow if I want to come here again and work.
Can I come on a business M type and then apply for work permit and then get my business M type converted to work Z type?? is it possible ??
Or
I need Apply for work Z type from India only and then come back??

Sahil, if your previous employer does not give you the work permit cancellation receipt and release letter, I'm afraid you can't apply for the work permit. In addtion, I'm afraid you don't have enough time to apply for an M type and then convert it to the Z type because you have only a few days left. So it's very likely that you need to exit and apply for a Z type outside PRC. Maybe you can go to HK and try your luck there. It's possible to apply for the Z type there if you use agencies.

Hi, thanks for reply. I have arranged relieving letter and work permit cancellation copies. I guess you answered a part of my query. Please advise below

1- is it necessary I need to apply Z visa from India or outside PRC?

2- if I come to PRC on a business visa and then apply for work licence and then work permit and then can I convert business visa to Z Visa in PRC only?

Sahil, in my opinion, you’d better apply for it from India.
As far as I know, it’s possible to convert business M type to Z type. But just to be on the safe side, you’d better apply for the Z type in your home country.
