Malaysia passport can apply for Transit Visa?

Hi. I will be travelling from Nagoya (1600) - Shanghai (1605) on 2 Jan. On the same day, Shanghai (2100) - Kunming (0050, 3 Jan). Will transit at Kunming for 21hrs 50min before flight back to Singapore (2240, 3 Jan). Can I apply for Transit Permit? Is it free? For your info, am holding Malaysia passport. Please advise. Thanks!

As you total layover time in China is longer than 24 hours, I'm afraid you cannot use the 24-hour direct transit policy, which means you may need to apply for a G type transit permit in advance. It charges fees and the fee is different when applying from different countries. You can confrim with Shanghai Airport Immigration to double check whether you can use the 24-hour direct transit policy. If you can, you don't need to spend money on the transit permit. The hot line is 0086-21-51105100.
