You know, cakes are regarded as liquid products, according to Chinese authorities. Passengers are not allowed to bring more than 1L liquid on board. If passengers take cakes as part of their checked luggage, their cakes will go into pieces because the porters might transfer their luggage barbarically.
However, I don't know if the same regulation is adopted for international flights. So I think you'd better confirm this with your airline.
