About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Changing X visa to M

Hi, I am currently staying in China on a resident permit (which I got based on my X2), and I will have to change it to a M type. Do you know whether that is possible to apply without leaving, or would I have to leave the country?

Trang, it's actually up to the local entry and exit management bureau. They decide whether you can change X to M without leaving or not. But I heard that most foreigners were required to apply from their own countries after the new entry and exit management law was implemented.
