About:Chinese Consulate in Toronto
I'm a Cdn citizen with a HK Passport and the Home Return Permit to China. Do I need a Chinese Visa?

Dear, you don’t need it and you are able to freely enter mainland PRC.

Rouge, you should use your HK passport and home return permit to exit Canada and enter Shanghai.
