About:China Work Visa

I have a working visa and it will expire Jan, 6th, 2016.

A company has been working on getting it extended but the government has since changed the rules again, which requires more paperwork. Some of the documents needed to be notarized(new rule)and so we are now awaiting the result. I am worried because it is taking so long and i will not have time left to try again . Also i have since found a new job that will do the Z type, but they need to wait 20 days to get the performance permit, and that would put me over the Z type limit. so I wanted to know if i can apply for a one month extension,in order to give my new job a chance to get the performance permit and then they can apply for my extension.

Tony, the extension can only be made with the help of your current employer. It requires your new contract. If you have no plan to work for your current employer, you can't make your current employement resident permit extended.

In my view, you get back to your country before your current resident permit expires. Then ask your new employer to send the related documents to you and apply for the new Z type from Chinese embassy in USA.
