Short afternoon tour to tiananmen square and forbidden city

Hi, We arrive at the airport at 12.30 midday return flight 12 midnight so have 12 hours. Would really like to visit the above in the afternoon. Is this easy. By train and walking?

Yes, the mode of transportation is easy. Take Airport Express Line to Dongzhimen Station. Next, transfer to metro line 2 to Jianguomen Station. Then, change to metro line 1 to Tiananmen East Station, Exit A. The fare is CNY 29, and the duration is about 45 minutes. Then, walk north across the square, and you will see Forbidden City.

You need to know that the last entry of Forbidden City is at 15:40 from November to March and it will be closed at 16:30, so you need to hurry up. Go and visit it first and then Tiananmen Square and the surroundings.
