About:Chinese Greetings

I will write a letter in my poor Chinese to thank for a generous gift. How to address the recievers?

The recievers are a couple in their early sixties and about 15 years younger than my husband and me. They address us with 尊敬的 X 女士和 Y 先生。Can I use 亲爱的 or is that just for close relatives?
They say we are like relatives;our children have met. How do I end the letter? Looking forward to good advice !

Tamalo, I am afraid that 亲爱的 isn't appropriate. You can use 尊敬的 in your letter. The formal format is to write 此致 and 敬礼. However, you can omit 此致 and write 健康 or 安好.
