Is it still worth it to visit Guilin in early January?
Can you still tour the river, visit rice terrace, and have good green scenery?

Personally, it is still worthwhile in early Jan. when there are much less tourists and the scenery is still beautiful in the famous attractions like Reed Fute Caves, Seven Stars Park, Elephant Trunk Hill, etc. Green views can be seen then. And the Li River cruise will still be in service. However, there may be not much too see at the rice terrace. At last, it will be a little cold then, so overcoat, long john, and thick pants are suggested.
