About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Confused, when to apply for the 72h free transit?

I am flying from Australia on 13th January and arrive at 7.20pm at Shanghai airport and don't leave till 12 noon the next day. I wanted to get a 72 hour free transit and stay in a hotel for the night as I will have two children with me. Do I just ask for the visa on the plane or do I do it before I fly

regards

Alison, in fact, you can use for the 24-hour direct transit upon arrival at the airport. You don't need to do anything in advance. What you need to do is to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport to go outside to the hotel.

No, you can just apply for it when passing through the immigration counter.
