75 hours in Shanghai

I am an Australian living in Paris and will be traveling to Shanghai for 3 days (on my way to Australia). I land in Shanghai on 18 December at 5:40pm and fly out of Shanghai on 21 December at 8:20pm - this means I will be in the country for approximately 75 hours. Does this pass with the 72 hour free transit or do I need to apply for a 3 month holiday visa?

Dear, you can still use the 72 hour free transit and you don’t need to apply for an entry permit. It's because the 72 hours in Shanghai starts from 00:00 the day following your entry date.
