hi. what visa should my partner(unmarried) apply to come reside here in china with me and our son?

Jen, you can tell your partner to try to apply for an S1 type first of all. If the application is not approved, your partner can only apply for an S2 type or a tourist L type. The two types do not allow him to stay for a long time.
