About:China Customs Declaration

Shipping items to China

If I buy new household goods (like dishes, glasses, bedding, small appliances, etc..) since I'm moving to mainland, is it better to ship those out of the packaging boxes they come in or send in all original packaging? And does it matter for duties if I value them as new/not used or not? I plan to send these via sea shipment btw.

Rob, it depends on how your post office requires. You know, China Post doesn't allow people to use their own boxes to ship things because they provide "standard boxes". It doesn't matter they are new or used.
