About:Sichuan Travel

China Visit : Neijiang City

I am fom eastern part of India-nearest International Airport is Kolkata.I want to visit Neijiang to meet my friend
intend to enter China either from Hong Kong or Taipai : suggest budget route and places to see in an around the Capital of Chengdu. Beijing and Shanghai is also in my itinerary. Suggest shortest route -Alternatively, there is direct flight from Kolkata to Kunming, from where I can come to Hanoi in a day or so, then fly to Hong Kong.One of my friend has invited to visit Taipei as well. I request you to please draw an itinerary .Time is not the factor but I am a Budget traveler.. Kindly consider the language problem in China, which is the most hurdle, being confronted by most of the Tourists. Please Help. Kindly post your reply also to my Mail Box :aganupghosh@gmail.com. 1. From Kolkata to Neijiang, you are suggested to fly to Hong Kong International Airport first. Then transfer to the flight to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport. After arriving, take direct long-distance bus at the airport and get to Neijiang. The bus schedules are 12:00, 13:40 and 16:00.
2. You are suggested to tour around in the following way: Chengdu - Beijing - Shanghai - Kunming - Hanoi - Hong Kong - Taipei
3. About the concrete sightseeing route:
In Chengdu: Day 1: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Chunxi Road and the city proper
Day 2: Leshan Giant Buddha
Day 3: Mt. Emei
Day 4: Chunxi Road, Wuhou Temple, Wide and Narrow Alley
4. Besides the language problem, most tourists confront the transportation problem. You are suggested to book the train or long-distance bus tickets in advance in case the tickets may be sold out. The best choice for you is to purchase them online.

Thanks for the prompt response. I would like to know the approx. distance, time taken , Fare in between the above two points. / Stations. I have copied you considered suggestion to book the ticket well in time on line but I am afraid that if the flight is delayed, the advance ticket so purchased shall be of no use.Therefore, I am now considering to spend 3 nights at Chengdu and visit the places suggested. Could you please suggest a few
(a) budget accommodation at centrally location or nearer to Bus Station ( so that I can negotiate the distance on foot easily ) with its Mail ID ( if possible ) and Tariff (b)Any possibility of availability of Guided Tourist Coach with its tariff.
You may kindly also provide me with any other information / guidance considered helpful to me as I am a solo Tourist of 71 years but capable of undertaking long journey.

1. From Chengdu to Beijing, the distance is about 1100 miles (1800 kilometers). You can take bullet train from East Railway Station and arrive at Beijing West Railway Station. The duration is about 15 hours. The only schedule is at 07:03. The ticket fare of first class seat is CNY1242 and second class seat is CNY864.
2. From Beijing to Shanghai, the distance is about 750 miles (1200 kilometers). Take bullet train from Beijing South, get to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. It takes 5 to 6 hours on the way. The ticket fare of first class seat is CNY933 and second class seat is CNY553.
3. From Shanghai to Kunming, the distance is about 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers). Take normal-speed train from Shanghai South, get off at Kunming Railway Station. The duration is about 1day 12 to 1day 15 hours. Soft sleeper costs around CNY820 and hard sleeper is about CNY530.
4. From Kunming to Hanoi, I cannot find the exact distance. You can take coach from Kunming East Bus Station and get off at Nanning. Then take a taxi to Langdong Bus Station and take direct long-distance bus to the destination. It takes around 8 hours on the way. The ticket fare is about CNY 200 per person.
5. From Hanoi to Hongkong, you are suggested to take the direct flight. In usual time, the ticket fare is about CNY 1,500 to CNY 2,000 for the single trip. The duration is about 2 hours.
6. From Hong Kong to Taipei, take direct flight to the destination. It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours on the way. Generally speaking, the ticket fare is around CNY 800 to 1,000.

For your convenience, it's suggested to find a hotel nearby the East Railway Station. The surrounding transportation is convenient. You can take direct bullet train to Leshan and Mt.Emei. YJ International Hotel is highly recommended. The price is around CNY 200 per night. It provides comfortable living environment and warm service. As I am committed to visit Neijiang City and therefore would like to have the above informatioins.
I am yet to decide as to undertake the journey to Chengdu by air or by train -perhaps may be by Train.
Therefore, whether I shall be passing through Neijiang or in any case first I shall have to come to
Changdu and then to Neijiang ? Whether this stretch is connected by Rail line or and on Bus Route, as well.
Since I am Budget Traveller and normally solo, so kindly help me with the maximum details available with you.
In fact I don't want to trouble my Host excepting my date of arrival and approximate schedule host aged
93+ need to be considered.

I suggest you go to Chengdu first and then head to Neijiang. As for going to Neijiang, bus is an easier way. However, both bus and train are available, and the price, duration and timing info are listed below for your comparison.
Bus
Shangmaocheng Bus Station
Duration: 2.5 hours
Price: CNY53
Timing: 07:10, 08:00, 09:30, 12:50, 13:30, 19:30, 14:00, 14:40, 15:00

Train
Chengdu Railway Station
Duration: 4 hours
Price: CNY32.5 for the hard seat, CNY78.5 for the hard sleeper and CNY118.5 for the soft sleeper.
Timing: 07:04, 08:31, 08:52, 10:12, 10:41, 13:00, 19:04 and 23:39.
