About:Lucky Number 4

Lucky bamboo stalks

I was at a flower stall in Hong Kong and the florist told me that when buying lucky bamboo you should buy 4 stalks as this brings good fortune. I told her I was surprised by this because I was always told that 4 was an unlucky number for the Chinese. She said yes but not when it comes to lucky bamboo. Is that correct?

Vas, four is unlucky. However, it doesn't apply in your situation. Four lucky bamboos can bring you good luck in the examinations or study. You just need to know that it's unlucky to buy odd-numbered lucky bamboos.

If you seek power, you might buy six stalks. If you seek great fortune, then you should buy eight stalks.

Thanks Vivienne. I figured the florist knew what she was talking about but thought it best I double check. I now also know why she kept saying no to my suggestion for 3 or 5 stalks.
