About:Yandang Mountain

Hello, I'm travelling to Yandang mountains this January and have some questions.

1. Is it any public bus from Yandangshan train station?
2. Is the access to the scenic area free or you have to pay just at the entrance? Is there any discount for students? Are there any beautiful hiking trails that could be visited for free?

Yes, outside the railway station, you can find direct buses to Dalongqiu Scenic Area, which are in service from 06:30 to 17:30. To commute between the major scenic spots, shuttle buses are available and you need to pay for it.

Entrance fees are required for the attraction: CNY40 for Lingfeng; CNY40 for Lingyan and CNY40 for Dalongqiu ect. I remember they also have combo ticket with which you can freely visit in all spots. They do offer 50% off for students with a valid certificate (student ID card), but the preferential policy is only for Chinese students.

There are many routes/trails for hiking on the mountain. This is a popular one for your reference:

The destination 'Dalongqiu Scenic Area' in Chinese is '大龙湫风景区'. You can show this to the conductors.

You are suggested to stay at Xianglingtou Village. It's easily for you to find the cheap and nice guesthouses. The village name in Chinese is '响铃头村'.

Google maps don't allow to download China areas.

Is it nessesary to book a hotel or it may be found when I come?

Booking a hotel is unnecessary. You can easily find a guesthouse upon arrival. Don't worry. Have a great time!
