I just searched on the train page of this website and trains to Huangshan are available indeed. You may give it a try again!

Well, take the train G1509 to Huangshan North from Hongqiao Railway Station. The train departs at 8:27, and the duration is about 5 hours. The business class costs CNY 948.5; the first-class seat costs CNY 505.5; the second-class seat costs CNY 304. Or, you may take train K 782 or K 8418 to Huangshan from the Central Railway Station. The trains leave at 12:28 and 20:14, and the duration is about 11 to 12 hours. The soft sleeper costs CNY 251; the hard sleeper costs CNT 163; the soft seat costs CNY 146; the hard seat costs CNY 93.
