About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does the 72 Hr visa apply to cruises. On shore for < 12 hrs?

P&O cruise, relevant section is ...... - Japan - Shanghai [on shore for <12 hrs] - Taiwan ....

The 72hrs free transit does not apply to cruises, but you still don't need the entry permit. Your ship stops in Shanghai for less than 24 hours, so the 24-hour direct transit policy works for you.
