Apply for chinese student visa in Hongkong

Hi,
I am planning to study in china. currently traveling with a L type in mainland and was wondering if I can apply in HK for a student type? ( of course with the needed documents already ready ).

Or should I go back to my home country Belgium to apply for this student type.

another question is how long can I stay with this student type? A 180 days in a row or should i exit en re-enter?

Milan, I am afraid that you may not be able to apply in HK if you don't have HK resident status. If so, you need to get back to apply for the student type.

I don't know which type (X1 or X2) you apply. If you get X1, then you need to change it into a resident permit within 30 days after arrival. Holding this resident permit, you can enter and leave many times before it expires. However, if you get X2, it's usually a single entry with a duration of stay of no more than 180 days. In this case, you can't exit until you finish your study. If you exit, then you need to reapply for another X2 to enter.

She already checked off "No" without a word about this ( but when he was denied entrance in Canada it was like it was my fault like who knew he had had a DUI its not a question an agent normally asks!
+ I also called Generations and the agent said check "No" as well as you
Yes its true it may not be considered a serious crime ( should be off his record as it was 20+ years ago) Thank you for your reply.
