when to apply for my china visa?

I am getting mixed information, some say to apply 1-2 months before travel. But i dont think i will receive my passport in time. Is it possible to receive it within 1-2 weeks? I am applying from Australia.

Eric, it's advised you to apply one month before your travel. Trust me, you can get your passport back in time. It usually takes only four working days to deal with the application.
