About:Hong Kong Weather

My family are planning to travel to HK in aug. is it really rainy season?

Yes, generally speaking, it's a rainy season and it rains every now and then. The temperature may range from 80 F to 90 F during that period of time. It will be hot and moist. Just prepare your summer clothes, and of course rain gears.
