There are two ways to fill the form. You can finish an Online Application Form via CVASC), print it out and sign it; or, you can download the form from this or embassy's website and fill it out by hand and sign it.

Hi, you need to finish the form by typewriting, then printed the form out.

Kelly, if you apply for the mainland China visa, you need to fill out the form by typing. The handwritten ones are not accepted any more.

For Hong Kong and Macau visa application, it's not required to fill out the form by handwritting or typing, but I think you had better type it to play safe.
