stay in a friend's apartment, do I need hotel reservations?

Hello, i want to go to China in the middle of January 2016 to visit a chinese friend and i will stay there just one mouth. Can i get a PRC visa without hotel reservation because i will stay in a apartment? Thanks

Yes, you can. Just ask your friend to write you an invitation letter stating that you will stay at his or her apartment so that the hotel reservations are not required.
