About:China Transit Visa

My partner is travelling from Heathrow to auckland, NZ (where he has residency).

He has two connecting flights. He lands at Ürümqi Diwopu International Airport with a 5 hour stopover and transfer before flying to Guangzhou airport with a connecting flight to auckland. Does he need a visa to travel on connecting flights through China as he will need to leave the airport to travel domestically through PRC.

Well, Hannah, if his transit time in PRC does not go beyond 24 hours in total, he doesn't need the transit permit and he is allowed to travel domestically to catch the next flight.
