About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can a 72 hour transit visa be used twice in the same year 2 or 3 months apart

We would like to visit Beijing in May for 3 days and then Xi'an in July for 3 days as we travel between Paris and Auckland. Is it possible to use the 72 hour free transit both times or do we need a full multi entry permit.

Your flight is Paris - Beijing - Auckland and back Auckland - Xi´an - Paris?

If so, it´s no problem to use the 72h transit on both ways.

But you can´t have any other stop in any other chinese city.
