About:China Visa Exemption

Arrival in PVG from ICN/departure form PVG to JFK. For a 9-hour visit, what is the procedure?

I just want to look around a university in Shanghai.
Am I applying for Temporary Entry Permit?
Where am I applying for this?
How long does it take?
Any step by step answer would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Geoffrey, you can make use of the 24-hour free transit policy. You just need to apply for it upon arrival at the airport. First you need to fill the arrival card. Then go to the immigration counter. After showing your boarding card and passport, the staff will stamp your passport with a temporary entry permit. Then you can leave the airport. The whole process only takes a few minutes.
