About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

One question...

We came to China on Z visa in the beginning of September. We applied for residence permit on September 10 (in Dalian), collection date was supposed to be September 30, but it's already the end of October and our employer tells us that our permits aren't ready yet... We don't know what to think, do you think it's normal to wait for so long or we should worry?

Hi Tom! I think there must be something wrong. You shouldn't have waited for so long. In addition, the Z type is only valid for 30 days after you enter and you are supposed to get the residence permit within 30 days. If you didn't get it, you may overstay.

Thanks Wendy,
But isn't it like your Z type is valid for 30 days and during these 30 days you have to go to PSB and start residence permit processing? And the moment you apply for residence permit your Z type is, like, canceled?

Tom, yes, you need to apply for the residence permit within the 30 days, but it doesn't mean that your Z type is canceled at the moment you apply for residence permit. I advise you to first find out the processing status of your residence permit. If it's prepared, then you do not overstay. If it's not ok yet, you should go to the PSB and inquire whether you have overstayed and ask for a best solution.
