Will I be able to leave the airport during the layover and go to HongKong down town and back?

I am a US citizen. I know I don't need a visa because of my citizenship. My plane lands at 9:30am and the connecting flight is at 8pm. Is it worth it to venture out for 5 hours? Thanks for your suggestions. Chris

Yes, you will. You may go to Tsim Sha Tsui, the city proper. It is an interesting place. You can take bus line A21, and get off at Cameron Road for HKD 33. The duration is about 40 minutes. The bus is available from from 6:00 to 24:00. After spending three or four hours there, you may come back to the airport to catch your flight.

Or you can take airport express to HK Station, then have a stroll in the central area. The duration is about 25 minutes and fare is HKD 100 for a single trip. There are many stores and restaurants there too.
