About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

What kind of entry permit do I need? Can I get it at the airport when I arrive?

I will be traveling in and out of Beijing only staying less than 3 days. I have a USA passport. Thank you.

Well, it depends on where you will fly from Beijing. If you fly back to USA, then you are disqualified for 72 hours free transit. If you fly from USA to BJ and then HK or other destination rather than USA, then you are qualified. Upon arrival, you just need to follow the instructions to reach the window where you can apply for the free transit.

No, you can't apply for it at the airport. That means you have to apply for it from the embassy or consulate in the USA according to your residence area.
