About:China Tourist Visa

Would I then be able to get a Visa or would I even need one if I never left the airport?

I am traveling to Singapore but have a layover in Shanghai, but my connecting flight doesn't leave from Shanghai the following day. I would be still in that 24 hour window but what if my flight gets cancelled or pushed back and the 24 hour window is up?

Mandy, if you are US citizen, then you are qualified for 72 hours free transit in Shanghai as long as your flight won't stop by any other Chinese cities. In this case, you can stay as long as 72 hours at the airport. During your transit, you can leave the airport too. By the way, 72 hours is counted from 00:00 next day.
