Amy, I don't know if you heard about this. Before Ji Fa founded Western Zhou, his father Ji Chang found a very capable man Jiang Ziya. In order to persuade Jiang Ziya to help him, he even let Jiang sit in his imperial carriage and drew the carriage on his own. Legend has it that he drew the carriage to move about 873 steps. Then Jiang Ziya promised that he would make the Zhou Dynasty last 873 years.

I have no idea if this is true. But I personally think that it lasted for more than 800 years because the rulers were capable. They ruled the whole country very well. On the other hand, they found capable officials to help them. The society was harmonious.
