About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do i need to notify airline if my flight is directly to beijing for 72 hours visa free

Traveling from San Francisco to Beijing. Do I need to notify airline that I want 72 hour free transit and can I use different airlines when I depart from Beijing?

Sue, when transiting in Beijing, you don't need to notify the airline that you want to use the free transit policy in advance. It's fine to use different airlines.
