About:China Visa Exemption

Attending UNESCO educational course

A UNESCO bio-ethical course is arranged in Shenzhen for five days. As US passport holder interested to attend such course with invitation letter, Do I need visa prior arrival to Hong Kong and Shenzhen?

You needn't apply one for HK. However, you sould apply one for Shenzhen. If you have the invitation letter from the organizer, then you should apply for a F type.
