use of Google maps in china

I will need to use some sort of reliable map service for my phone and tablet. Can you recommend a service i can use.
Also does Google maps work?

Gordon, Google maps don't work because Google has been blocked. I think you might buy VPN service to enable Google maps when you arrive.
