Bullet to Xian ad Dengfeng

Hi,
I am going to China this December. I would like to visit Xian and Dengfeng (Shaolin), is it better to start the trip from Shanghai or Beijing? Is there any bullet /normal rail to Xian and Dengfeng? And how long would approximately take for the trips? Can I go to Dengfeng from Xian directly or I have to go to another city to change rail?

You can start your trip from Beijing. Then you go to Xian. After visiying Xian, you can take fast train from Xian to Luoyang. There are direct bus from Luoyang to Shaolin temple(Dengfeng).

Thanks for the replies guys. Which luoyang station is it? Because when I checked schedule from Xian, there 3 luoyang; luoyang, luoyang east and luoyang longmen. And which part of luoyang I can catch the bus to shaolin? And how long is the journey to shaolin by bus? Where can I buy the bus ticket? Thanks a lot...

Hello,
a bullet train from Beijing to Xian North would take as low as 4h 25min to reach Xian.
From Shanghai to Xian there are no bullet trains, only one type D overnight train, which takes 10h 36 min to reach destination.

Dengfeng has no train station of its own, unfortunately. First travel from Xian North to Gongyi South, it will take 2h 17min. Then you would need to call a taxi.

There are 12 other normal trains from Shanghai Railway station to Xian Railway station. The travel time ranges from 10h 36min by D306 train to max. 21h 29min by K2186.

The bus to your destination departs from Luoyang Railway Station. The ride takes 2 hours, tickets are 20 yuan per person.
