About:China Visa

Passport expires less than 6 months later

I have a foreign passport and my passport will expire less than 6 months later. I'll need to go Shanghai next month and a china visa is required. Is getting my passport renewed the only way to get the entry permit?

Jenny, if you intend to stay in Shanghai for not more than 72 hours, you can select a route that qualfies for the 72-hour free transit policy, so that you don't need to renew your passport to get the entry permit. If you need to stay longer, you have to renew your passport to get the entry permit.

if you are planning to return before the expiry date on your passport, you should be ok to fly with the present passport. if it has already expired then Airports would not let you pass immigration.
Good luck, I had a similar experience recently.
