chinese number format for online registration

Question

I am on a Chinese website for my camera I just bought.  It wants me to verify a telephone number but when I type in my area code and phone number it says its the wrong format.  I have also tried 001 86 plus area code and phone number.  I've tried numerous formats and can't seem to figure out how to get the right format.  help

Janae, first please make sure whether telephone number or mobile phone number is required. If it is telephone number, then you should write area code (XXX or XXXX) and phone number. Sometimes, area code and phone number are required to be input in two different blanks. If it is mobile phone number, you just need to write down your 11-digit numbers.
